Two of the my favorite things: Afternoon Tea & Disney. Disney’s Garden View Tea Room is a gorgeous little spot in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, one of Disney’s Magic Kingdom Area resorts. It’s on the monorail, so we often take a break from Magic Kingdom around lunch time and head for tea!
I have very fond memories of going to the Garden View Tea Room for afternoon tea with my mom and Nana. My mom is a huge tea fan. She even owned her own tea company for about 8 years. I love finding new tea rooms and I always judge them by their cucumber sandwiches. But no one will ever compare to Garden View, and that’s not because their cucumber sandwich is out of this world (it’s okay). It’s because Disney doesn’t half-ass anything, and their tea room is no exception.
When my husband and I decided to go to Disney World for our Honeymoon in May I immediately told him I was making reservations for afternoon tea… at least once. He was lucky and I did only make one reservation. But if we could have afforded it, I would have gone every day.
Just like everything at Disney World, over the years things have changed. It used to be a little known secret, this tea room. Now they do Princess Tea, so the families are in on the secret. Thankfully, when there are no princesses to be found, it’s still a quiet little spot to have a cuppa… and some other delicious food!
We’re going back to Disney World in January for my birthday and I’ve already made our afternoon tea reservation. We’re going with friends, so I’m excited to share the experience with new people and see what they think of it. With all the changes that have happened, I always wonder a little if part of the reason I love this tea room so much is nostalgia. It’ll be interesting to see if my friends rave about it as much as I do.
